Epitestosterone is a naturally occurring steroid and a passive epimer of the male sex hormone testosterone. Unlike testosterone, epitestosterone does not possess significant androgenic activity and does not promote muscle growth. However, it plays a critical role in sports anti-doping analytics. Because the human body typically excretes testosterone and epitestosterone in a relatively constant ratio, the testosterone-to-epitestosterone (T/E) ratio in urine is universally monitored by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to detect exogenous testosterone abuse.
